Description
Multicolor Velvet Peacock-Floral Laddi Pattern Bridal Lehenga Choli Where the peacock spreads its tail across midnight velvet, a bridal story begins. Cut from a deep, lustrous velvet ground, this lehenga carries the laddi pattern, a rhythmic arrangement of floral and peacock motifs that echoes the embroidery vocabularies of Gujarat and Rajasthan, where bridal craft has long been measured in hours of devotion rather than metres of cloth. Sequins, dori, and zari thread move across the surface in graduated layers, catching light the way temple gold catches the afternoon sun. Zircon diamond work punctuates the hem and bodice, adding a contemporary brilliance without disturbing the essential weight of tradition. The double dupatta, one in soft net and one in coordinating velvet, offers a considered layering that speaks to ceremonial versatility across the mehendi, sangeet, and wedding evening. Drape the velvet dupatta as a head covering for the pheras and let the net layer fall freely over the shoulders for the reception. Pair with uncut diamond or polki jewellery to honour the handworked surface without competing with it.

Behind this piece
Velvet has travelled a long road to reach this lehenga, from the looms of medieval Gujarat and the royal ateliers of Mughal-era Benaras, where cut-pile fabric was reserved for court regalia. The peacock motif, sacred to Indian iconography and beloved by Rajasthani and Hyderabadi bridal traditions alike, here unfolds across deep pile in the laddi pattern, a repetitive jewelled arrangement associated with festive abundance. Zari threads, rooted in Surat's gold-wire craft, and dori embroidery join zircon-set accents to create a surface that behaves like illuminated manuscript work: dense, devotional, and entirely hand-guided.
How to style
For a winter wedding, pair this lehenga with an unstitched raw-silk blouse in ivory, finished with a sweetheart neck, and layer both dupattas: the net version draped over the head, the velvet one pinned at the shoulder. Choose kundan choker sets from Rajasthan's jadiaa craft tradition and juttis in antique gold khussa work. For a sangeet, skip one dupatta, add a sleeveless blouse with a deep back, and wear oxidised silver chandbalis. For a reception entrance, drape the velvet dupatta as a cape and complete the look with heeled mojris in wine or emerald.
Fabric & care
Velvet is a pile fabric and must never be folded against itself, as creases become permanent. Dry-clean only; water and velvet rarely agree, particularly when zari, dori, and zircon embellishments are involved. Between wears, hang the lehenga on a wide padded hanger in a breathable cotton garment bag, away from direct light, which fades pile colour over time. Store dupattas separately, rolled on acid-free tissue rather than folded. Should the velvet pile flatten in transit, hold it briefly over steam without contact, then brush gently with a soft velvet brush to restore its lustre.
