Behind this piece
The buti motif carries centuries of memory. Derived from the Persian word for flower, small bootis were woven and printed across the subcontinent long before Mughal courts formalised their presence on court textiles. In block-printed cotton traditions from Rajasthan and Gujarat, the buti appears as a quiet repeated gesture, a dot of life across an open field of cloth. Here, that heritage translates into a crisp pure cotton kurta, where the printed bootis are anchored by clean piping at the placket and cuffs, lending structure to a motif that has always understood restraint.
How to style
For a morning gathering or a temple visit, wear the Baked Clay colourway with ivory mojris and a simple rudraksha mala. On a cooler evening, the Steel Blue reads handsomely alongside a natural-dyed indigo stole and tan kolhapuris. For a daytime office occasion in a creative or cultural setting, tuck the kurta into its matching pajama, add a slim copper kada, and carry a khadi tote. The piping detail at the neckline and hem makes accessories almost unnecessary; it does the quiet decorative work on its own.
Fabric & care
Pure cotton breathes and softens with each wash, but it rewards attentiveness. Hand wash in cold water using a mild detergent, or machine wash on a gentle cycle. Wash dark and light colourways separately for the first two washes to allow excess dye to settle. Dry flat in shade to prevent the piping from distorting. Do not wring. Iron on medium heat while slightly damp to keep the fabric crisp and the piping sharp. Store folded, not on a hanger, to preserve the set's shape across seasons of wear.
