Behind this piece
The confluence of silk and wool in a single textile is not accidental. It is the considered grammar of Kashmir and the Kullu valley, where weavers have long understood that silk carries light while wool holds warmth, and that together they create something neither fibre can achieve alone. This stole speaks that language quietly. The ivory ground is printed with violet in a manner that recalls the resist and block traditions of the Indo-Persian atelier, where colour was never applied carelessly but placed with the deliberateness of a poet choosing a word.
How to style
Draped loosely over a pale kurta in chanderi or tissue silk, this stole introduces depth without competition. For a winter wedding, pair it with a deep plum or ivory anarkali, a carved silver choker, and block-heeled juttis in antique gold. On cooler evenings in a city restaurant, it works equally well folded over a white shirt and straight-cut trousers, with a single silver bangle and kolhapuris. The ivory ground makes it forgiving across many skin tones and a reliable companion through the transitional months of October into February.
Fabric & care
Silk wool blends reward patience. Hand wash in cool water using a shampoo formulated for delicate fibres, never a detergent with alkaline agents. Do not wring; press the water out gently between two dry towels and reshape the stole flat on a clean surface away from direct sunlight. Iron on the lowest silk setting with a pressing cloth between the iron and the textile. Store folded in muslin or acid-free tissue, not in polythene, which traps moisture. Treated this way, the lustre and the drape will remain faithful for many years.
