Bangalore's silk-weaving tradition draws from centuries of Mysore court patronage, refined further under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, who invited weavers from Kanchipuram and Surat to settle in the region. What emerged was a distinct idiom: a softer silk hand than the stiff Kanjivaram body, paired with zari work of genuine restraint and precision. The peacock border here is not decorative flourish but a considered motif, native to Karnataka's weaving vocabulary. The honey-peach ground, achieved through careful loom tension and yarn preparation, carries the particular luminosity that only pure mulberry silk sustains across decades of wear.

Fabric & care
Pure mulberry silk is a protein fibre and must never meet machine agitation or alkaline detergents. Dry-clean for the first three washes to preserve zari integrity; thereafter, a gentle hand wash in cold water with a pH-neutral silk wash is acceptable. Never wring. Lay flat on a clean cotton towel to absorb moisture, then dry in full shade. Store in a muslin or cotton cloth, never polythene, which traps humidity and damages both silk and zari. Refold along different lines each season to prevent permanent crease marks along fold edges.
