Floral Border with Metallic Thread Embroidery
Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin pouch away from direct sunlight to keep the sheen alive.
Behind this piece
Metallic thread embroidery on art silk carries the memory of zardozi courts and the quieter tradition of border work that framed India's most celebratory garments for centuries. This floral border speaks to that inheritance: repeated blooms rendered in luminous thread, their petals catching light as a brocade panel would. Art silk lends the ground a particular softness, allowing the metallic work to sit with ease rather than stiffen. The four colourways, Aurora Red, Ever Green, Magenta, and Tango Red, are conceived for the Indian palette, generous and unapologetic in their warmth.
How to style
Stitch the Aurora Red border along the hem of an ivory chanderi kurta for a Diwali gathering; pair with kundan studs and kolhapuri flats. The Ever Green reads beautifully applied to the dupatta edge of a cotton salwar suit, worn to an afternoon mehendi with oxidised silver jhumkas. Magenta applied to the neckline of a plain silk blouse transforms it completely for a wedding reception; complete the look with a tissue silk saree and pearl drops. Each colourway rewards restraint: let the border carry the occasion.
Fabric & care
Art silk is delicate and should never be machine washed. Hand wash in cool water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, keeping agitation gentle to protect the metallic threads from fraying or tarnishing. Do not wring; press the fabric flat between two clean towels to remove moisture. Dry away from direct sunlight, which fades both the art silk ground and the metallic lustre over time. Store flat or loosely rolled in a muslin cloth, never folded sharply along the embroidered line, to preserve the thread integrity across seasons of use.
