Behind this piece
Jaipur has long been a city that understood spectacle. Its textile traditions, nurtured under Rajput and later Mughal patronage, produced fabrics that treated the surface as a garden, dense with bloom and movement. This art silk carries that sensibility forward: woven flowers spread across the ground in a repeat that feels both ceremonial and joyful. The dazzling blue and tomato red colourways speak directly to Rajasthan's love of saturated, unapologetic colour. Art silk gives the design an accessible luminosity, rendering the floral motifs with a sheen that catches light as the fabric moves.
How to style
Cut this fabric into an unlined kurta for a festive lunch and let the all-over floral work do the talking; pair it with straight ivory palazzos and block-printed juttis in tan. For a more composed silhouette, have it stitched as a midi skirt and tuck in a plain silk blouse, finishing with oxidised silver earrings. The tomato red colourway suits a gathered lehenga skirt worn to a mehendi, styled with gold kolhapuris and a single bangle stack. The dazzling blue translates beautifully into a draped top for daytime gallery visits or curated cultural events.
Fabric & care
Art silk is a cellulose-based fibre and responds best to a gentle cold-water hand wash using a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid wringing; instead, press the fabric between two clean towels to remove excess water. Dry flat and away from direct sunlight, which can shift the depth of both the blue and red colourways over time. Iron on a low setting with a pressing cloth placed between the iron and the fabric surface. Store folded, not hung, to prevent the weave from distorting, and keep in a breathable cotton bag away from moisture.
