Georgette, that famously fluid fabric named after the early twentieth-century French couturière Georgette de la Plante, found its truest expression when Indian textile mills began interpreting it through a distinctly subcontinental lens. This kaftan draws on that translated legacy: a lightweight, crêpe-woven georgette that breathes and moves. The leopard motif, rendered in screen print, belongs to a long tradition of animal-pattern textiles that appeared in Mughal court dress and later in the printed ateliers of Jaipur and Surat.
