the story,

Behind this piece

Mughal court ateliers once commissioned entire vocabularies of floral ornament, and the clematis motif carries that inheritance quietly. Drawn from the naturalistic arabesque tradition that flourished under Jahangir and Shah Jahan, these interlocking blooms and scrolling tendrils were perfected by court painters and later translated onto woven and printed textiles across Benaras and Lucknow. Art silk, a fibre beloved for holding printed colour with particular vibrancy, gives each motif a luminous depth. This blazer is a made-to-order piece, which means it is cut and finished only when it is yours.

to wear it,

How to style

Wear this blazer over a white chanderi kurta with ivory palazzo trousers for a cultural event or gallery opening. Pair it with slim black trousers and a silk camisole for a formal dinner where understated confidence matters. For a festive afternoon, layer it over a tissue-silk kurta in champagne and finish with juttis in antique gold leather. Jewellery works best when it echoes the period: consider polki studs, a slender kundan bracelet, or a single string of freshwater pearls. Keep the neckline clean so the Mughal print holds its full attention.

to last,

Fabric & care

Art silk is a delicate regenerated fibre that demands gentle handling. Hand-wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent, never wringing or twisting the fabric. Rinse once, then press lightly between clean dry towels to remove excess moisture. Dry flat in shade, away from direct sunlight, which yellows the fibre and fades printed pigment over time. Iron on a low setting with a pressing cloth placed between the iron and the surface. Store folded in a muslin cloth, not plastic, inside a cool dry wardrobe. Avoid perfume contact directly on the fabric.
