Behind this piece
Sequin embroidery in India carries a long and layered lineage, reaching back to the Mughal courts where shimmering threadwork adorned robes of ceremony and celebration. The craft flourished in the ateliers of Lucknow and later found a second home in the workshops of Surat, where artisans learned to marry synthetic georgette's fluid drape with the precision of hand-applied sequins. Each disc of light is placed to move with the body, not against it. This cerise suit continues that tradition, translating an old vocabulary of luminescence into a silhouette made entirely to your measure.
How to style
For a festive evening gathering, pair this suit with gold Kolhapuri block-heeled sandals and a single strand of polki or kundan. Keep the neck bare to let the sequin field speak. For a mehendi or sangeet, layer a light ivory organza stole over the chiffon dupatta and choose oxidised silver jhumkas for contrast. On a winter wedding circuit, a structured raw-silk clutch in ivory or champagne grounds the cerise without competing. Avoid heavy embellished footwear; the suit carries enough movement on its own.
Fabric & care
Georgette and chiffon are woven from fine filament fibres that lose their structure under heat or aggressive handling. Dry-clean this suit after every occasion rather than attempting hand-washing, which risks pulling the sequin stitching. If light freshening is needed between wears, hang the garment in open air away from direct sunlight, as prolonged UV exposure fades cerise tones. Store flat or loosely rolled in a breathable cotton muslin bag, never compressed under weight. Keep sequinned panels facing inward during storage to prevent snagging against other fabrics.
