about the piece,

Description

There is a quietness to cotton that no other fabric can replicate, and this kurta from BLISS at ISKCON Vrindavan carries that stillness with grace. Cut in a relaxed silhouette with short sleeves, it is fashioned from pure cotton that breathes easily through the warmest afternoons. The colour, Oasis, sits somewhere between a muted teal and a dusty sage, evoking the cool interiors of a temple courtyard in the height of summer. Cotton kurtas of this character have long been associated with the devotional simplicity of Vrindavan, where fabric and form are chosen for their gentleness rather than their spectacle. The solid weave allows the cloth itself to speak, unadorned and honest, suited equally to a quiet morning at home or an unhurried afternoon in the market. Pair it with white cotton palazzo trousers and a pair of flat kolhapuris for an effortlessly composed everyday look. A fine dupatta in ivory or pale gold would lift the ensemble gently, should the occasion call for it.

the story,

Behind this piece

BLISS, the in-house label of ISKCON Vrindavan, carries within its stitching a quieter kind of devotion. Vrindavan has long drawn artisans whose work is shaped by the spiritual rhythms of the town, and this kurta reflects that unhurried sensibility. Cut in pure cotton and offered in four contemplative tones, Celadon Tint, Oasis, Serenity, and Graysand, it speaks to a tradition of simple, honest cloth. The short sleeve silhouette is unadorned by design. Here, restraint is the craft. The fabric breathes; the colour holds its ground without demanding attention.

to wear it,

How to style

For morning errands or a quiet lunch, pair Serenity with wide-leg ivory palazzos and kolhapuri chappals. On a warmer afternoon, Oasis worn over slim white cigarette pants and finished with oxidised silver jhumkas from Rajasthan becomes effortlessly put-together. For a cooler evening, Graysand layered beneath a fine Maheshwari dupatta in blush, cinched with a cloth-covered belt, carries its own understated ceremony. The Celadon Tint reads beautifully against natural terracotta block-print skirts. Each colour is purposely low-contrast, making tonal dressing the most rewarding approach across all four.

to last,

Fabric & care

Pure cotton responds best to cold or lukewarm water washes; hot water will shrink the weave over time. Hand washing is ideal; if machine washing, choose a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Dry in open shade rather than direct sunlight, which can lift the subtle tonal depth of colours like Celadon Tint and Oasis. Iron on a medium-cotton setting while slightly damp for the crispest finish. Store folded, not hung, to prevent shoulder distortion. A well-cared-for cotton kurta softens beautifully with every wash.

Each piece is hand-picked from artisan clusters we work with directly across India. Some are handloomed on traditional pit looms, others use block-printing, hand-embroidery, or heritage techniques passed down through generations. Small irregularities are part of the character — not a defect.
