the story,

Behind this piece

Net fabric as a base for bridal wear carries a quiet European lineage, arriving in India through colonial trade and finding its most devoted home in the ateliers of Lucknow and Surat. What transforms this saree is the thread embroidery worked across its surface: each leaf motif is a measured exercise in needle discipline, echoing the restraint of chikankari without borrowing its name. The patch border grounds the airy net with structural intent. Bright white, long the colour of classical Bharatanatyam costuming and Bengali linen tradition, here becomes something entirely bridal, and entirely contemporary.

to wear it,

How to style

For a daytime wedding ceremony, pair this saree with a pearl-white silk blouse with three-quarter sleeves and nude block-heeled sandals. For an evening reception, a deep champagne or antique-gold blouse in raw silk will warm the white without competing with the embroidery. For a sangeet worn by the bride's sister or close friend, try a pastel mint or blush tissue blouse, silver jhumkas, and strappy heels. The net drape is light enough for a nivi pleat style with minimal pinning, allowing the leaf embroidery to fall cleanly down the pallu.

to last,

Fabric & care

Net is a looped or knotted synthetic or silk construction that distorts permanently under heat or rough handling. Dry-clean this saree before its first wearing. If hand-washing becomes necessary, use cold water with a mild fabric shampoo and never wring or twist. Support the full weight of the wet fabric when lifting it from water. Dry flat on a clean cotton sheet, away from direct sunlight, which yellows white net over time. Store loosely rolled in a muslin cloth, never folded sharply at the embroidered border, to prevent thread stress and crease lines.
