Fabric & care
Art silk, woven from synthetic filament to approximate the sheen of natural silk, requires gentle handling to preserve both the base fabric and the metallic embroidery. Hand wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent; never wring or twist. Rinse carefully, press out excess water with a soft towel, and dry flat in shade to prevent the thread from oxidising. Iron on the reverse side at a low setting, never directly on the metalwork or pearls. Store rolled in acid-free tissue rather than folded, to avoid creasing the embroidery and stressing the pearl fastenings over time.
