the story,

Behind this piece

Sanganeri block printing traces its roots to Sanganer, a town outside Jaipur in Rajasthan, where artisans have pressed hand-carved wooden blocks into cloth for centuries. The tradition migrated eastward to Pilkhuwa in Uttar Pradesh, a town long celebrated for its fine cotton textiles, where it took on a quieter, more restrained character. Floral motifs rendered in clean, repeated patterns are the hallmark here, each impression made by hand, each block inked with care. This wrap-around skirt carries that layered geography within its weave, a conversation between two regional textile traditions on a single length of pure cotton.

to wear it,

How to style

In Cyan Blue, pair this skirt with a white handloom cotton kurta and kolhapuri chappals for an unhurried Sunday afternoon. The Raspberry Rose colourway asks for a tucked-in ivory chanderi blouse and block-printed potli bag at a daytime gathering or cultural fair. Tomato Red and Zinnia Yellow, both warm and confident, suit an evening out when paired with a raw silk crop top, delicate silver jhumkas from Rajasthan, and strapped leather block-heeled sandals. The wrap silhouette allows easy adjustment across body types, and the cotton breathes through any season.

to last,

Fabric & care

Wash this skirt separately in cold water on its first use, as the natural dyes of Sanganeri block printing may bleed lightly before settling. Hand washing in mild detergent is strongly preferred; if machine washing is necessary, use the gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Dry in shade, never in direct sunlight, which fades the vivid Zinnia Yellow and Dynasty Green particularly quickly. Do not wring the fabric. Iron on a medium setting while slightly damp to restore the soft hand of the cotton. Store folded in a breathable cotton bag to protect the print over time.
