Warli is one of India's oldest tribal art traditions, practised by the Warli communities of the Sahyadri foothills in Maharashtra's Palghar district. Its grammar is elemental: circles, triangles, and squares arranged into scenes of harvest, dance, and cosmology. The Chakra of Life, a ceremonial motif at the centre of Warli ritual painting, represents the unbroken cycle of existence. Here, that ancient symbol travels from mud walls to a hand block-printed cotton viscose mask, its ochre-on-beige restraint honouring the original without ornament. Cotton viscose blends reward gentle handling. Hand wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent, keeping the printed side inward to protect the block-printed surface. Do not wring or twist; press the water out softly between two clean towels. Dry flat in shade, away from direct sunlight, which fades the natural pigment over time. Iron on a low setting while slightly damp, print side down. Store flat or loosely rolled, not folded repeatedly at the print. Treated with this care, the fabric holds its weave and the Warli motif its clarity through many seasons of wear.
