the story,

Behind this piece

Banaras has woven silk for over five centuries, and the brocade tradition that flourishes along the ghats of Varanasi carries that entire weight. This kora sari works within that lineage, rendered in art silk that preserves the characteristic crispness of kora fabric: a luminous, slightly stiff weave prized for its transparency and refined drape. The all-over woven pattern recalls the grid-like butidar arrangements historically favoured by Banarasi karigar communities, where the loom itself composes the motif, thread by thread, without embroidery or embellishment added after the fact.

to wear it,

How to style

In charcoal gray, pair this sari with a raw silk full-sleeved blouse in ivory and silver kolhapuri heels for a formal evening gathering. The opaline green colourway suits a daytime wedding reception beautifully alongside a tissue silk blouse in champagne and pale gold jhumkas from Rajasthan. Quartz pink, being softer in temperature, works well for a festive family occasion: try it with a rose-beige chanderi blouse, pearl drop earrings, and strappy block-heeled sandals. All four colourways accept contrast blouses gracefully, so experiment freely.

to last,

Fabric & care

Art silk benefits from gentle, attentive handling. Dry-clean this sari for the first wash to preserve the woven structure and surface sheen. If hand-washing at home, use cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, and never wring or twist the fabric. Rinse thoroughly, then roll the sari inside a clean cotton towel to absorb moisture before hanging in shade. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth, away from direct light. Refold along different lines every few months to prevent permanent creasing at the fold lines.

Each piece is hand-loomed by artisan clusters we work with directly across India. Small irregularities in the weave are the hallmark of handloom — not a defect.
