the story,

Behind this piece

Organza's luminous weightlessness has long made it a favoured canvas for zari work across the silk-weaving belts of Varanasi and the looms of Gujarat's artisan clusters. Here, metallic zari threads are woven directly into the organza ground, creating floral motifs that catch light the way petals catch dew. The technique demands precision: zari is unforgiving of error, and the sheerness of organza amplifies every imperfection. The result is a fabric that feels almost architectural in its delicacy. Paired with a grounded cotton salwar, this ensemble holds that rare balance between ceremony and breath.

to wear it,

How to style

For a festive afternoon gathering, wear this kameez with the included cotton salwar and layer a polki or kundan choker at the throat. Come evening, swap the salwar for wide-leg ivory silk trousers and let the dupatta drape loosely over one shoulder. For a daytime occasion such as a mehendi or a curated lunch, tuck the dupatta into the waistband and add oxidised silver jhumkas with strappy block-heeled sandals in nude leather. The organza's inherent glow means jewellery can remain restrained; the fabric does the speaking.

to last,

Fabric & care

Dry-clean is strongly recommended for the organza kameez, as water weakens zari threads and may cause the metallic coating to flake over time. If hand-washing the cotton salwar separately, use cold water with a gentle, pH-neutral detergent and avoid wringing. Press the organza on the reverse side using a cool iron with a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric. Store the kameez hanging in a breathable cotton garment bag, away from direct light. Never fold organza along the zari lines, as repeated creasing eventually fractures the metallic thread.
